Trump 'ignored' in awkward moment as Starmer and Macron rally around Zelensky | World | News![]() A body language expert has revealed what new pictures of world leaders with Volodymyr Zelensky shows us of the relationship between Kyiv and its allies. In newly released photos, the Ukrainian leader can be seen talking with Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump. The Frenchman can be seen with his hand on Zelensky’s back whilst the Ukrainian looks dead ahead towards Keir Starmer. The US President can be seen on the periphery of the conversation, something body language expert Judi James believes shows him struggling to break into the conversation. She told the Express.co.uk: “This 'businessman's networking' pose looks surreal as it shows four world leaders in an out-of-kilter pecking order. "Zelensky appears to be the leader being honoured here as Macron places a hand of friendship and control on his shoulder as he introduces him to Starmer. “Starmer's puckered beam gives the impression he's honoured to be meeting the Ukrainian leader. "Donald Trump looks like the one who can't quite break into a networking event group chat. “While the other three men are focused on their greeting ritual, Trump's pose makes it look as though he's trying to join in but being momentarily ignored." Starmer and Macon are known to have a good personal relationship with the wartime leader, with Zelensky often being warmly embraced on the occasions they meet in person. With Trump, the relationship is well-known to be more difficult, with today’s meeting at the funeral being the first time the two have come face to face since the infamous meeting in the Oval Office. The US is currently pressuring Ukraine to accept a peace deal which relinquishes large amounts of land to Ukraine. This week, the Trump accused Zelensky of “harming” the negotiations and making “inflammatory” comments with his refusal to accept Russian occupation of Ukrainian land. Zelensky has argued that the Ukrainian constitution prevents him from agreeing to relinquish claims over lost territory with any acceptance of Russian occupation requiring a two-thirds majority in a referendum. With millions of Ukrainians on the frontline fighting or displaced any attempt to hold a legitimate vote would be rendered practically impossible. Source link Posted: 2025-04-26 13:53:27 |
