How to unblock drains fast without chemical drain unblockers![]() Many homeowners, when faced with persistent kitchen or bathroom drain blockages, default to using commercial chemical drain cleaners. These are marketed as a quick-fix solution for clogged drains, which seems convenient in the moment. However, while these chemical solutions may temporarily solve the problem of unclogging drain pipes, they often have more negative repercussions than benefits. These potent chemicals, although engineered to clear clogged drains, can corrode your plumbing over time. Therefore, it’s important to consider alternative methods on how to clean drains. Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page, Amy Hill shared how “amazed” she was that just one denture tablet could unblock her bathroom sink when a plunger and chemicals couldn’t do the job. Sharing a picture of denture tablets, she wrote: “Thank you so much to the person who recommended these. It cleared the drain blockage in under five minutes. “My bathroom sink has been blocked for months, and I’ve spent an absolute fortune on sink and drain unblockers and plungers. “I put one tablet down yesterday, followed by boiling water, and it has cleared instantly! I’m just looking for other things I can try them on now! I’m amazed!” If you’ve ever seen denture cleaning tablets in action, you know that their fizzy action power attacks the nasty gunk on dentures. They do something similar to your clogged pipes, breaking up the yuck so water can move through them again. All you need to do is break one to two tablets, put them down the drain, and chase them with hot water. This should work for mild clogs. You may need to do this process a few times for more intense clogs. These cleaning tablets work because they contain common cleaning ingredients that make whites brighter again. Some of those ingredients include baking soda, sodium carbonate, and a hydrogen peroxide stabiliser. Denture tablets can be picked up in any supermarket or health and beauty store. They retail for just 80p at Sainsbury’s and for £1 at Boots. Impressed by this tip, one group member in the comments section who was struggling with a blocked drain said: “Wow, I was just on the point of calling a plumber, I’ll be buying some today!” Amy replied: “I was the same, I had tried everything, it is amazing how fast this cleared it.” Source link Posted: 2025-04-24 00:39:25 |
