Full list of major food recalls at stores including Tesco and Waitrose

Products ranging from jam and chocolate to crisps and potatoes have been recalled in recent weeks. Notices issued by the Food Standards Agency warned of problems including contamination with metal and undeclared ingredients that could trigger allergies.

They include jam which may cause symptoms in those with allergies and lager made by Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone brand. It's important shoppers who have bought the recalled products return them to stores immediately.

Here is a list of recent major recalls:

Aldi Baby Potatoes

Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter sold at Aldi have been recalled as they contain milk not mentioned on the label. This means the product could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

The recall applies to a 385g pack with the use-by date April 12, 2025. Customers with allergies or intolerances to milk were urged “do not eat it”, and advised to return the product to the store where they bought it.

Jams, chutneys and pesto

Various jams, chutneys and pesto made by Anglesey Foods Ltd have been recalled because they contain barley or sulphites not listed on the ingredients label. They could therefore trigger symptoms in anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, with coeliac disease, or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.

Sensitivity to sulphite can cause symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness and, in rare cases, anaphylaxis, particularly for people with asthma.

Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone lager

Two products belonging to Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone lager brand have been recalled because they contain wheat not mentioned on the label. This could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or coeliac disease.

The products, made by The Cotswold Brewing Company Ltd, are Hawkstone Black and Hawkstone Spa Lager. The former Top Gear star launched his Hawkstone beer and cider brand in 2021, offering a range of premium British beers and ciders.

Tony’s Chocolonely Easter Eggs

Popular chocolate brand Tony’s Chocolonely has recalled two products over fears they may contain pieces of metal. A notice issued by the Food Standards Agency warned the Easter treats may be “unsafe to eat”.

The recall applies to the Tony’s Chocolonely Hollow Milk Caramel Sea Salt Egg and the Tony’s Chocolonely Hollow Milk Chocolate Egg, both weighing 242g with a best before date of June 2025. The eggs are sold in a range of stores including Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

Ham-flavoured crisps

Ruffles Sabor a Jamόn Crisps have been recalled because they contain allergens which are not listed in English on the label. A notice warned the product could pose a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or soya.

The affected packets weigh 150g and have a range of best before dates. They were recalled by manufacturer 3D Trading, with customers offered a full refund.

Chocolate bars with pretzel

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Belgian Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Pretzel has been recalled because it may contain pieces of metal. The sweet and savoury chocolate bars are part of the supermarket’s Taste the Difference range.

Customers who bought the product were urged not to eat it and to return it to the store where they bought it for a full refund.
