DVLA issues major update to drivers ahead of Easter bank holidays

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has issued a warning to Brits as the Easter bank holidays draw closer. It said its contact centre opening hours will change during the Easter holidays - in fact, it will be closed for three days. The three days include Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday.

This temporary closure is part of the agency's standard practice during bank holidays but it’s one that drivers should be aware of. While the contact centre will be closed, the DVLA emphasises that its online services will remain operational throughout the Easter period.

Motorists are encouraged to utilise these online services for tasks such as vehicle tax renewal, license applications, and other services typically handled by the DVLA.

It's important for drivers to plan ahead and be aware of these closures to avoid any unnecessary hassle.

If you do find that you need to make a call to the DVLA during this period, make sure to check the online services available as you may be able to complete your query this way instead.

However, if you do need direct contact with the agency's call centre, you’ll have to wait until it reopens.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on DVLA services and operating hours, it's recommended to visit the official DVLA website or contact their customer service directly.

It’s also worth noting that processing times for certain services may be slightly delayed following the Easter period due to increased demand.

To avoid disruption, it's advisable to complete any urgent transactions in advance.

Setting reminders for vehicle-related deadlines can also help ensure compliance and avoid potential penalties.

The opening hours for the DVLA over Easter are:

Good Friday 18 April, (bank holiday) - closed

Saturday 19 April, 8am to 2pm, (normal hours)

Easter Sunday 20 April, - closed

Easter Monday 21 April, (bank holiday) - closed

Tuesday 22 April, 8am to 7pm, (normal hours)
