Man Utd player ratings vs Lyon: Dreadful duo get 3/10 as Red Devils left heartbroken | Football | Sport![]() Manchester United played out a hugely entertaining draw with Lyon in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final. It was a closely-fought affair, with both teams having their moments over the course of the match. It was important for United to avoid defeat, with the result ensuring they will go into next week's second leg at Old Trafford on a level playing field. Lyon drew first blood when Thiago Almada's speculative cross went all the way through, with Andre Onana failing to make what should have been a routine stop. His blushes were saved when Leny Yoro headed home for United just seconds before the half-time whistle. Joshua Zirkzee, who came off the bench in the second half, thought he had completed the comeback with a brilliant finish in the closing stages. However, the visitors were left heartbroken when Rayan Cherki chipped the ball over Onana in the final minute of stoppage time. Express Sport rates and slates the United players from tonight's match... Man Utd player ratings vs LyonAndre Onana - 3 Had the chance to silence his critics following his row with Nemanja Matic in midweek. Only gave them more fuel with his awful mistakes for both of Lyon's goals. Perhaps it would have been better to say nothing at all. A total nightmare. Diogo Dalot - 6 Started well but lost his discipline after the opening goal, picking up a booking for a needless foul on Nicolas Tagliafico. Did okay in attack, linking up well with Alejandro Garnacho on the right side of the pitch. Noussair Mazraoui - 6 Defended well for the most part, putting his body on the line to deal with opposing attacks. Had a few nervy moments, though, being turned far too easily in a battle with Georges Mikautadze at one point. Harry Maguire - 6 Had a shaky moment when he lost the ball deep in his own half, giving Lyon a golden chance to double their lead. Did well enough apart from that and was a threat in the opposing box, putting himself about in set-piece situations. Leny Yoro - 7 Reacted well to score his first United goal with a point-blank header on the brink of half-time. Moved the ball nicely and was rarely beaten by his opposite number in defence. Patrick Dorgu - 6 Worked hard at both ends of the pitch, covering every blade of grass on the left flank. Created a big early chance for Rasmus Hojlund, who made a mess of the finish. Casemiro - 5 Managed to hit the target with an ambitious bicycle kick in the first half. Failed to offer much of note apart from that one moment. Nothing to write home about. Manuel Ugarte - 6 Had an embarrassing moment when he was sent to the shops by Nicolas Tagliafico in the first half. Grew into the game and grabbed the assist for Yoro's equaliser before the break. Booked for a push on Mikautadze. Bruno Fernandes - 7 Led by example with his tireless work rate and constantly shouted at his team-mates to demand more from them. Came close to scoring before the break with a volleyed effort, which was deflected wide, and was heavily involved throughout. Alejandro Garnacho - 6 Looked lively from the start, getting himself into some promising positions. Created a big chance for Fernandes with a dangerous ball into the box. Nearly scored a late goal but was denied by a fine stop from Lucas Perri. Rasmus Hojlund - 3 Lacked composure on the ball, missing a huge chance to score in the early exchanges. Looked exactly like a player with just one goal in his last 26 games. Still yet to show why he should be considered good enough for a club of United's stature. SubstitutesJoshua Zirkzee - 8 Was introduced just after the hour mark in place of Rasmus Hojlund. Almost saved the day with a brilliant headed finish in the closing minutes, but was cruelly denied a glorious moment by Cherki's last-gasp leveller. An influential cameo. Mason Mount - 5 Came on for the final 20 minutes, replacing Manuel Ugarte. Booked for shoving Tagliafico in a ferocious clash after losing his temper. Was relatively quiet apart from that. Victor Lindelof - n/a A late addition, coming off the bench for Harry Maguire in the closing stages. Kobbie Mainoo - n/a Another late introduction in place of Alejandro Garnacho.
