Lawns will be 'perfect' by summer if you do these 4 easy tasks now

The lawn is the first thing you see when looking out into the garden. So because of this, you'll want it to look as good as possible for the upcoming summer season.

However, the cold weather of winter tends to wreak havoc on grass, making it uneven, patchy or even killing it completely. To help gardeners in need, one expert on social media has shared an easy-to-follow guide that will revive your lawn in no time. Michael the Mediterranean Gardener on TikTok says four easy steps is all it takes for a lush-looking lawn.

In a recent video, he unveiled his foolproof technique for a 'perfect' summer lawn - starting with mowing. He said: "If you haven't got out there yet, it's time for the first cut.

"Keep it around 4cm in height. Remember we're waking it up, not giving it a buzz cut."

Next on the list is aeration, or poking little holes into the lawn with a garden fork. Michael said: "If your lawn's been soggy and sad all winter, a garden fork will help."

Then it's time to scarify the lawn, which is just a 'fancy way' of saying ripping out the moss and thatch. And then, grabbing a lawn-levelling rake, he said: "If your lawn is lumpy, now is the perfect time to level it."

That should be enough to sort you out, but if your lawn has any patches in it, then overseeding can really help.

Michael said: "Rake in some fresh seed, water well, and watch it fill out."
