Remove weeds 'permanently' with DIY weed killer

A sunny afternoon is the ideal time to remove any weeds in your patio or garden. While getting rid of weeds can be tiresome, one content creator says that you can remove weeds "permanently" with one simple DIY solution.

"Weeds are a pain and weeding sucks," The Jennovation TikTok creator shared on her channel. To clear any weeds, there is a "save, cheap and easy DIY weed killer" that people might want to consider. Before sharing how to make the DIY weed killer, she put out a warning to her viewers on the social media platform.

"Warning, this will permanently kill your weeds and any other plants you get it on," she said.

How to make the weed killer

Ingredients

  • A gallon of white vinegar
  • Tablespoon of table salt
  • Tablespoon of dish soap

You need only stir the table salt into the gallon of white vinegar until dissolved, then add the dish soap and mix well.

"Wait for a sunny, non-windy day for this simple project," the content creator added. Using a spray, she then soaked all the weeds she wanted to get rid of, cautioning others that they should take care not to spray nearby plants that they liked.

Within two hours, the weeds in her paving stone had already died, and she claimed that within a week, all the weeds will be "completely dead".

Any leftover DIY weed killer can be stored in a "cool, dry place" so that any "tough weeds" can be tackled with a second spray of it when needed.

Captioning the video, The Jennovation said it's the "easiest way to kill weeds".

While one fan commented on the video, stating that her method "really works", another protested: "Don't bother; doesn't work."

When one commentator complained that using up these ingredients, including the gallon of white vinegar, can be costly, The Jennovation provided another solution.

"The cheapest of all options is just boiling water... if you don't mind running outside every time you're done boiling something."

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) recommends removing weeds by hand, cutting back growth regularly, and smothering weeds with mulch and organic matter.

The use of chemical weed killers is frowned upon by the RHS because weed killers can "have a big environmental impact".
