How to remove stains from toilet seats fast and naturally without scrubbing

Stains on toilet seats are a common problem, often as a result of residue from things like urine, fake tan, dead skin, hard water, and some cleaning agents - these can result in shades of orange, yellow, brown, or green discolourations. Professional cleaning company AMK Housekeeping Services on Instagram have shared how they clean toilet seats effectively.

They ditch the typical cleaning spray solutions in favour of a melamine sponge, also referred to as a “magic eraser”. Their toilet seat cleaning video is captioned: “It’s pretty simple really! Grab a magic eraser and tear a little bit off. Then rub it on the toilet seat and watch the yellow stains disappear.”

In seconds, the stains disappeared as the cleaner rubbed the sponge on the affected area in the video.

So, what exactly is a magic eraser? Well, it’s a highly adaptable cleaning tool that requires nothing but water to help remove stubborn marks.

Thanks to its light abrasive quality, it’s perfect for removing different types of blemishes, including scuff marks, grimy bathroom tiles and even walls with persistent stains.

Using a magic eraser on a stained toilet seat is quite straightforward. You just need to dampen the sponge lightly, squeeze out any excess moisture, and then gently scrub over the stain in a circular motion.

Another professional cleaner who goes by the name of @mymaidmamma on Instagram also recommends this way of cleaning toilet seats.

She said: “I did try doing this [removing toilet seat stains] with bleach, but it was taking too long, and I’d spent enough time in this bathroom.

“Magic eraser all round, two-minute job! I have found the Aldi ones to be the best and cheapest.”

Her followers shared their thoughts on this cleaning hack in the comments. @sassygbc said: “Magic erasers are just brilliant, wouldn’t be without mine.”
