We’re well into Amazon’s seven-day Spring Deal Days sale event by now, with all the deals ending at 11:59pm UK time on Monday March 31. That means any discount on Amazon marked as a ‘Spring Deal’ will cease come Tuesday and everything will go back to regular price.

This includes the generous discounts currently running on three of Amazon’s latest Kindle e-reader devices, the Kindle, Kindle Colorsoft and Kindle Scribe.

Announced in the latter half of 2024, it’s likely these will remain Amazon’s main e-readers for the next year, and it’s unusual to see such heavy discounts so early into the Kindles’ life. The Kindle Paperwhite is not on offer, but all others are.

The regular Kindle is on sale for £79.99, down from its £94.99 RRP. This Kindle is the cheapest of the range, but it’s not that hobbled compared to its pricier siblings. Coming in black or a fetching matcha green, the Kindle has a solid plastic build, recessed display to avoid scratches, a front light for reading in low light, USB-C charging, and weeks-long battery life.

It’s also the smallest Kindle, easily fitting in a coat pocket. One thing to note is this price is for the Kindle with ads, which means it’ll display adverts on the lock screen for other books or services. Unfortunately, the version without ads costs more and is not on sale. But if this doesn’t bother you, £74.99 for the latest Kindle is a great deal.

If you prefer a splash of colour, the Kindle Colorsoft is reduced to £219.99 from £269.99. It’s still pricey, but £50 off might convince you to opt for Amazon’s first ever colour Kindle.

I’ve tested and reviewed the Colorsoft, and my main complaint was that it’s too expensive, so this discount makes it much more palatable. The colour display is as vibrant as E Ink can get (which is less than an iPad screen, take note), with book covers in the Kindle Store and on your lockscreen coming to life now they’re not monochrome.

It’s also a good Kindle to go for if you read illustrated books or comics, though the screen is too small to comfortably enjoy most graphic novels, I found.

Finally, the second-generation and newest Kindle Scribe is on sale for £289.99, down from its usual £379.99. This 10-inch screen Kindle comes with a stylus in the box that lets you annotate e-books and create whole-page notebooks, letting you carry around your scribblings whether they’re on your latest non-fiction book or part of your work notes.

Amazon also recently upgraded the Kindle with a free software update that brings some smart AI tools such as handwriting tidy up and summarisation of your notes.

If you want to get your hands on one of these three discounted Kindles, you have until 11:59pm on Monday night to take advantage before the prices go back to normal. Best of all, you don’t have to be subscribed to Amazon Prime to get these deals - the prices are the same for everyone.
