Luke Humphries snaps back at 'wally' on social media after Luke Littler thrashing | Other | Sport

One supporter has now argued that his best time has already come and gone though. On the All Things Darts Facebook page, a fan predicted that the star will struggle once he officially loses his status as the best player in the game.

“Humphries prime has truly been and gone,” he wrote. “When he loses the World Number One spot, I reckon we're gonna see him slowly but gradually fall down the rankings."

He probably wasn’t expecting a stinging riposte from the player himself, though. Humphries was quick to point out that only in February he landed the World Masters title, as well as the Players Championship Finals in late 2024.

"I've literally won two of the last four majors you wally!” he said. “Couple of bad weeks don't define you. Remember this happened last year the start of the year and look how it ended."

Despite his ‘Cool Hand Luke’ persona at the oche, this isn’t the first time Humphries has argued with fans on social media. Last year, he questioned a follower who tried to call out his appearance during matches.

Criticised for wearing Slazenger shoes at the oche, he wrote: “They are really comfy maybe, and I don’t need to walk on stage with a pair of £1000 pair of shoes to be world champion.”

He has admitted to recently being frustrated at not displaying the same consistency as he did in 2024. He started last year by beating Littler at the Alexandra Palace to claim his first world title, but in December, his title defence was ended in the last 16 by Peter Wright.
