Lidl issues urgent recall on popular snack over risk of salmonella infection




Lidl GB is recalling a popular snack item due to the potential presence of salmonella, which may cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms. The budget retailer has said this makes it unsafe to eat, and if you have purchased the below product, return it as soon as possible.

Lidl GB is recalling the Sol & Mar Chicharricos BBQ Pork Scratchings, 100g, and has urged customers not to eat it. The supermarket said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.”

Batch affected: All stock

Notice: No other Sol & Mar products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall

Salmonella infections often cause symptoms like diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps.

In other food recall news, Tesco has issued a recall on various Free From Meal Kits, urging customers who have purchased the items to return them.

Best before: All dates up to and including May 19, 2025

Tesco added: “For any further enquiries, please contact our Customer Service Team directly on 0800 505 555.”

The supermarket reassured customers by explaining that no other Tesco products have been affected by this recall.

The supermarket said: “If you have purchased the affected product, please do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.” Tesco explained that customers do not need a receipt to receive a full refund on this food product.
