Center Parcs unveils bombshell masterplan for UK village with man-made loch | UK | News

Center Parcs has unveiled plans for a brand new £400million village in Scotland, with its own man-made loch and woodland spa. Developers presented their ambitious plans for the Scottish Borders on Wednesday (March 26), which included a subtropical swimming pool, man-made loch, wildflower meadows, nature walks, and wetlands to enhance the resort's biodiversity.

Guests at one of 700 lodges and apartments could also visit a tranquil forest spa set within a woodland, or visit a nature centre with its own restaurant and coffee shop. The holiday site said the park "integrates seamlessly with the natural environment while providing high-quality accommodation and leisure experiences". If planning permission is granted, the village is expected to generate 750-800 jobs during construction, and once operational, approximately 1,200 permanent non-seasonal roles.

Developers presented their hand-drawn plans at a public consultation in Denholm Village Hall, which set out the visual design and development strategy.

Centre Parcs will continue to evolve plans based on public feedback before submitting a final version as part of the planning application this Summer. Consultation events are scheduled for Selkirk in April and Hawick in May.

Colin McKinlay, chief executive of Center Parcs, said "significant technical and design work" is taking place to make Center Parcs in the Scottish Borders a reality.

He added: "As our project team continues to develop plans and engage with the community, we are delighted to reveal the first iteration of our masterplan. These consultation events are essential in allowing us to gather feedback and refine our proposals.

"Our goal is to create a destination that integrates seamlessly with the natural environment while providing high-quality accommodation and leisure experiences for families."

The total investment in the project has been estimated at £350 million to £400 million.
