Gwyneth Paltrow says her 'iconic' movie scene makes fans do 'funny' thing | Films | Entertainment

Gwyneth Paltrow has called a beloved scene from 'The Royal Tenenbaums' "iconic", expressing her affection for the memorable Wes Anderson-directed moment.

Fans echoed the 52-year-old actress's sentiments, also deeming the scene iconic.

Paltrow encountered the clip during a recent interview and could not hide her delight; her amusing commentary on the sequence delighted the entire crew.

As she revisited her career highlights, including roles in 'Iron Man' and 'Glee', Paltrow heaped praise especially on her portrayal alongside Luke Wilson in 'The Royal Tenenbaums'.

Playing Margot Tenenbaum, Paltrow expressed joy over something funny fans still do to this day - dress up as her for Halloween.

"It's the Halloween costume that won't end, it's so funny," she explained. "Every year people send me [pictures], sometimes it's an eight-year-old girl, sometimes it's a whole family dressed as The Tenenbaums. It's great."

Reflecting on the complexity of the scene, Paltrow added: "It's iconic, let's face it. I didn't realise it was going to be done in slow motion and be this incredibly evocative, emotional moment.

"This is a complicated dynamic, right? You have the brother and sister, yes she's adopted, but there's this clear romantic love between them."

Gwyneth Paltrow, the Oscar-winning actress, expressed her thoughts on romantic on-screen narratives, highlighting the intensity of forbidden love in fiction.

She said: "It's an unusual dynamic to explore and I do think when something is impossible or when there are huge obstacles between people in fiction, in novels, the longing that comes from that is a very powerful dynamic to watch as an audience."

Reflecting on her experience with visionary filmmaker Wes Anderson, who directed her in The Royal Tenenbaums alongside Gene Hackman, Ben Stiller, and Anjelica Huston, Paltrow gushed about his talent.

She praised the director, saying: "Wes is such an incredible director. he's so unique in the way that he tells stories and this love story, it's so emblematic of Wes and the way that he is able to find these incredibly creative and novel ways of expressing emotion. I love playing Margot."

Paltrow reminisced about her quirky character, adding: "She was so weird and awesome and I had such a good time being her."

The actress also praised Timothée Chalamet, for his approach to acting, calling him "a man who takes his work really seriously."

In anticipation of their risqué project together, Marty Supreme, Paltrow detailed the modern approach taken towards intimate scenes.

She said: "We have a lot of sex in this movie. There's a lot. There's now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed. I was like, 'Girl, I'm from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera's on'..

"We said, 'I think we're good. You can step a little bit back.' I don't know how it is for kids who are starting out, but if someone is like, 'Okay, and then he's going to put his hand here,' I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that"... I was like, 'Okay, great. I'm 109 years old. You're 14.'"

She further described Chalamet as a "thinking man's sex symbol". She added: "He's just a very polite, properly raised, I was going to say kid. He's a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner."
