Prince Harry's drug admission 'doesn't fit with Meghan Markle's new brand' - expert claims | Royal | News

Prince Harry has raised eyebrows this month after he appeared in just one episode of his wife’s new cooking series. In the Netflix show “With Love, Meghan”, fans were surprised that the Duke of Sussex, 40, only had a very short cameo in the final episode at a brunch hosted by his wife Meghan Markle, 43.

While it is believed that he wanted his wife to take the spotlight, one expert thinks there is a very different reason for the decision. Amanda Platell wrote in The Daily Mail that she thinks Harry’s lack of appearance in the show is down to the fact that his rebel past no longer fits with Meghan’s new brand image. This includes the fact that just two years ago Harry spoke very openly about heavy drug use.

Amanda wrote in The Daily Mail: “Is the prince now surplus to Meghan’s media ambitions?

“Is he the irrelevant spare we have long predicted he would become, a distraction to her new narrative?”

She continued: “A past in which he (Harry) confessed he took illegal drugs doesn’t exactly suit Megs’s new image of a home-spun, perfect mom in the kitchen, exuding competence and health-giving goodness.”

Despite Harry’s lack of appearance in the show, Meghan has spoken fondly about her husband and the support he has shown her in her new business ventures, including her new lifestyle brand As Ever.

The duchess also said that her husband has a “spark in his eye” when Meghan is working on her new projects.

She told People: “My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me.”
