Sir Sean Connery may have been best known for starring in seven James Bond movies as the original big-screen 007. However, the Scottish legend, who died on Halloween 2020 at the age of 90, made many other incredible films across genres. During his Hollywood career, he starred in four major World War 2 films after living through the conflict as a boy. Ranked according to film fans on IMDb, John Wayne’s D-Day epic The Longest Day isn’t No 1.

3. A Bridge Too Far (1977)

Richard Attenborough’s British war epic depicts Operation Market Garden, a failed Allied operation in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War 2. The film’s ensemble cast includes Connery as Major-General Roy Urquhart, along with Michael Caine, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, and more.
