Now spring is here, it's likely your garden has started to thrive with flowers blooming and new stems growing.

However, warm weather paired with April showers also means weeds are likely to appear in flower beds, in patio cracks and on driveways.

These can look particularly unsightly because they have a restricted size due to the poor growing conditions.

Removing weeds can be difficult but luckily fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared their simple natural method for removing the unwanted plants.

Lisa Rooney posted on the Facebook group, 'Mrs Hinch Gardening Tips': "Any tips as to what I can do to stop the weeds? I did try squirting weed killer on every patch I pulled up last year. Obviously, didn’t work!"

Lisa's block paving was covered in weeds like dandelions and patches of grass.

The post was inundated with responses with boiling water either by itself or mixed with salt being the main solution to the problem.

Dawn Quinn said: "I’ve recently been trying the old-fashioned ways. I dug up the bigger weeds.

"Salt and boiling water killed a patch in a day and I’ve since gone over some areas again. I’ll try white vinegar and washing up liquid next."

Amanda Jane Williams commented: "Salt and boiling water works a treat."

Jackie Ann suggested: "It’s the worst job ever! Whatever way you do it. I normally do boiling water, then after a couple of days burn off the dead dried bits (that bit is satisfying) and a wire brush. Then clean with a jet wash with the circle brush attachment."

Carol Watson agreed and wrote: "Use boiling water out your kettle, pour onto the weeds it kills them off."

Tracy Allingham replied: "Put salt down then pour boiling water over it, worked for me."

However, salt and boiling water were not the only suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans. Other suggestions included using white vinegar, and washing up liquid and soda crystals.

Julie Barnes said: "White vinegar. Add a little washing-up liquid. I have no weeds from last year."

Laraine Saward Piddington suggested: "Soda crystals, sprinkle over the weeds and moss, leave for a few days then wash off, it can last up to two years."
