Luke Littler jokingly threw shade on Luke Humphries' nine-dart finish following the teenager's second nightly win of this year's Premier League Darts. Humphries was one of two players to hit a nine-darter in Brighton, with Rob Cross also joining the illustrious list. 

Remarkably though, both Humphries and Cross were beaten during the matches in which they hit the nine-dart finishes. The world No.1 was dumped out by Cross in the quarter-final, with the 2018 world champion going on to record a three-visit leg of his own in the semi-final, only to lose against Nathan Aspinall. 

Littler had been the last Premier League player to record a nine-dart finish, having hit one during last year's final. While he wasn't successful this time around, Littler strengthened his position in the Premier League table with a solid victory on the night. 

When quizzed about the two nine-darters on night five of the Premier League by Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton, the Nuke replied tongue in cheek: "Boring that." 

He added: "I tried. I think they both get gold darts, so we've still got a few weeks left." 

Littler was referring to the 18ct gold darts promised to players that hit a nine-darter by the Premier League's sponsor, Bet MGM. It's estimated the ornament costs around £30,000 to make, meaning both Humphries and Cross cost the betting company £60,000 on a night of darting chaos on the south coast. 

The win in Brighton comes on the back of Littler's latest major victory, with the 18-year-old having danced his way to the UK Open title over the weekend. As he continues to rip up the darting rule book, questions surrounding Littler's mentality and approach have been asked, with some questioning if he'll start to become complacent in the Premier League, given his spot in the play-offs is all but secured. 

When asked by ex-professional-turned-pundit Mark Webster, he responded: "My main goal is top four. First, second, third or fourth [it doesn't matter], just make it to the O2 [Arena, for finals night]. That's when my proper title defence takes place.

"Obviously we've got a busy couple of days now with the European Tour. [And then] Tuesday and Wednesday with the Pro Tour. This is when the busy schedule is starting. My eyes are obviously now going on the Euro Tour."

He continued: "I've always been confident in my own ability, but the way my darts are going at the minute, they're probably the best I've played on a consistent basis. Let's hope it continues onto the weekend in Belgium."
