Wheeler Dealers' Mike Brewer reveals ‘hideous’ classic car he doesn’t like

Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer once admitted he would never restore one particular classic American muscle car he wasn’t a fan of. The star of the popular classic car restoration series stressed the model was “hideous" and even went as far as calling it his “kryptonite” machine.

He branded the model the “worst design ever” and suggested it had been drawn by a child with a crayon. The star suggested he was "pretty vocal" about how much he didn't like the model, suggesting it was unlikely to appear on an episode of Wheeler Dealers any time soon. Mike was referring to Chrysler’s PT Cruiser Convertible which was produced by the American giant between 2005 and 2008.

Speaking on an online Q&A on the Wheeler Dealers Facebook page, Mike said: “Do you know what? I’ve never been asked that. What car would I never do? Yeah, there is. It's a great question.

“Apologies to anyone out there who’s got one and likes them but I'm pretty vocal about how much I don't like them.

“It would be a Chrysler PT cruiser, convertible, in yellow. That would be my nemesis. That’s my kryptonite.

"I can't stand yellow cars and I can't stand the PT cruiser and I can't stand a convertible even more."

And the much-loved car expert didn't stop there - he went on with his scathing critique of the motor calling it the "worst design ever."

He said: "They are just hideous. Some kid after he took an overdose of Calpol got a crayon and drew the worst design ever. He needs a punch whoever designed it. He does. Sorry if you've got one. It's hideous.”

According to Parkers, the Convertible model produces between 141 and 143bhp with a top speed of up to 121mph. The model can reach 0-60mpoh in just up to 12.4 seconds and has a fuel economy of almost 32mpg.

The Convertible Cruiser model was based on the five-door hatchback Chrysler PT Cruiser model which was being built by the brand until 2010. AutoTrader, the leading new and used car marketplace, has Chrysler PT Cruisers listed for sale with some models available for around £2,000.

However, true costs will depend more on the condition of the model with some examples being sold for up to £3,750.
