A shopper has taken to TikTok to share her experience of what she believes is the "most expensive farm shop in the UK" – Gloucestershire's Daylesford Organic Farm Shop.

Isobel Lorna, who boasts 1.2 million followers on the platform, visited the Cotswolds store with £40 in hand and later shared her purchases in a video. "I'm going to get some snacks and see how expensive it is," she told her followers as she entered the shop.

She was shocked to find crisps flavoured with caviar and 100% extra virgin olive oil priced at £6.75 per packet. Her search for chocolate led to disappointment too, meanwhile, due to the limited selection.

"This is the only chocolate I could find," she said, showing off bites of viola chocolate with a floral design."It literally has flowers in," she added. "Oh my god, it's £15."

Isobel then looked for cookies and found paper bags filled with them on several shelves. She picked up a bag of five organic Bakewell cookies and exclaimed: "Okay these look nice, but they're £9.25. Oh my gosh."

To wash her selection of sweet treats down, meanwhile, she headed to the shop's fridges for a drink. Opting for an iced nut latte, which she dubbed the "world's smallest coffee", Isobel wasn't impressed by it's £6.50  price. "I'm scared about the total of this," she admitted as she neared the checkout.

With her four items scanning for £37.90, Isobel was relieved to remain within her budget. "Wow, £37 for four items," she stated, utterly astonished as she concluded her video. "I literally almost fainted at the checkout."

Since uploading her footage on Monday (March 3), it has attracted the attention of over half a million TikTok viewers eager to see the reasons behind her outrage. One supporter echoed Isobel's sentiments on the platform: "I don't mind spending a little extra on fancy chocolate there is a difference in quality, but £9 for a bag of cookies is criminal."

Another quipped: "Those crisps are delicious, but also, they're £4. In real shops they're £4. You're shopping in 2027 prices!" A third shared a similar sentiment: "WHAT are those prices?! Are the made of gold?!" Whilst a fourth confessed: "Wow, that is definitely some expensive stuff."

Other voices sprung to the defence of the farm shop, however, sharing their positive experiences. "Daylesford is incredible love it excellent produce you can get it on Ocado as well," a fan of the company responded.

And a second remarked: "Daylesford is such a nice location to visit and price to eat in is not bad plus the food is great. Would highly recommend even if you just go for a walk around and take it all in."

Highlighting their proximity to the source, the farm shop describes their offering on their website: "Set amidst our working organic farm, you can't get much closer to the source than in our farmshop stocked with fruit and vegetables harvested daily from our market garden, pasture-raised meat from our own farms, artisan bread from our bakery and award-winning cheese from our creamery, all just steps away.

"Keep things simple with nibbles from the delicatessen counter, organic and biodynamic wines from our Wine Stall, and freshly made meals to heat up at home. Bring your own containers to fill up on store cupboard staples at the zero waste pantry, or pick up tempting, freshly made salads, toasties and sausage rolls."
