Meghan Markle humiliated as 'insane' Netflix show receives scathing reviews | Royal | News

Meghan Markle's new Netflix show has received scathing reviews in the British media, with one outlet branding the venture "insane".

The headline of a review by The Guardian reads: “Kiss the Netflix deal goodbye! With Love, Meghan is so pointless it might be the Sussexes’ last TV show.”

Stuart Heritage describes it as the third consecutive disappointment from Harry and Meghan’s Netflix output after the duke’s Polo series and the Heart Of Invictus documentary.

He calls it a show about “a woman filling children’s party bags with seeds and manuka honey” and “the sort of gormless lifestyle filler that, had it been made by the BBC, would be used to bulk out episodes of Saturday Kitchen”.

The Telegraph gives it two stars and says: “It is, to put it kindly, insane”, branding it an “exercise in narcissism, filled with extravagant brunches, celebrity pals and business plugs”.

The show, With Love, Meghan, launched on the streaming platform at 8am in the UK—midnight on the West Coast of America—after being delayed from January because of the Los Angeles wildfires.

Episode one called Hello Honey! features Meghan’s friend Daniel Martin as she prepares a “thoughtful guest basket”.

It began with Meghan harvesting honey from bees as she said: “The biggest thing is keeping a low tone – talk in our bee voice”.

In another episode called “Welcome to the Party,” the Duchess of Sussex is filmed picking fruit in her garden and reveals what encouraged her to begin making her famous jam.

Near the end of the final episode, Meghan raises a toast at her brunch, saying this “feels like a new chapter” which is “part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much”.

As Harry arrives, Meghan remarks, “Oh, there he is”, and the pair embrace and kiss each other on the lips.

Meghan later asks Harry as they hug: “It’s good, right?.” The duke replies: “Well done. You did a great job… I love it.”

The show is being seen as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020.
