Wayne Rooney could land two new jobs in 'perfect' move for wife Coleen | Football | Sport

Wayne Rooney is reportedly in the frame to land two new jobs, either of which would be 'perfect' for his wife Coleen. Rooney is currently out of work, having left Plymouth Argyle in December after just seven months in charge. He was relieved of his duties with the Pilgrims languishing near the bottom of the Championship table.

The former England striker has endured a tough start to his managerial career, with his spell at Plymouth preceded by mixed stints in charge of Birmingham City, DC United and Derby County. He is not thinking about giving up, though, recently telling Stick To Football that he would be willing to try again at the 'right club'.

Rooney relocated to Devon during his time as Plymouth manager but has since returned to the family home with Coleen and their four children. Speaking at the recent launch of her new brand, Applied Nutrition, Coleen said: "It’s great now that Wayne’s back home. He will do the school run, and I’ll get an early gym session in."

However, it has been reported by Heat World that Coleen would prefer Rooney to get another job so that she can continue to rule the roost at home. It is said that a return to management with Salford City, who are owned by a group of his former Manchester United team-mates, could be an option.

A move into punditry is also mentioned as a potential career path for Rooney, with an insider quoted as saying: "There’s talk of Wayne getting another managerial role at Salford City FC, which is music to Coleen’s ears. It’s local, so he doesn’t have to move out, but he won’t be home 24/7 and will have something to focus on."

The insider added: "There’s also talk of him joining Match Of The Day as a pundit, which would be perfect as it’s filmed in Manchester, so he wouldn’t have too far to travel."

Salford are currently managed by Karl Robinson, who is aiming to get them promoted out of League Two this season. However, a run of three successive defeats has seen the Ammies slip to ninth in the table, with their hopes of playing third-tier football quickly fading.

It remains to be seen if Salford's owners will look to replace Robinson if they fail to secure promotion, which could open the door for Rooney to take the reins. Alternatively, he could be tempted to join Match of the Day as the show enters a new era with Gary Lineker departing at the end of the season.
