Luke Littler handed feisty UK Open draw as Luke Humphries faces female world No. 1 | Other | Sport

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have learned their opponents for the UK Open draw as the darts stars face difficult tests in their opening matches. Players will compete for the £110,000 top prize and the coveted title across the weekend in Minehead, with a total prize fund of £600,000 on offer to the players, which is paid out to the remaining 128 players. World champion Littler will take on Peter Wright in what could prove to be a feisty battle, while Humphries, the world No. 1, will take on his female equivalent Beau Greaves.

There will be no love lost between the Littler and Wright, who have both exchanged words in the build-up to their past clashes. Wright has largely been complimentary about Littler following his meteoric rise, but the 18-year-old's effortless excellence in darts tournaments - despite having little practice at the oche - has irked his more experienced opponent. Before facing Littler in the Premier League Darts in Glasgow last year, Wright said of Littler: "It's great for all the youngsters what he's doing against the big boys. As for him not practising, it does annoy you when he's just sitting on his phone and then is like, 'Oh, do I have to play darts now?!'

As for Humphries, 29, he faces a different test altogether as he has been pitted against Greaves, 21, for the first time. The latter has been making waves on the PDC Tour after trouncing Stefan Bellmont 6-1, Rhys Griffin 6-1 and Micky Mansell 6-2 in the first stage of the competition. She is the top-ranked player in the [PDC Women's Series, and Humphries reacted to the draw by claiming he is eagerly anticipating their clash in Minehead.

"Not a bad draw at the UK Open," Humphries posted on X (formerly Twitter). "Really looking forward to playing against Beau tonight. It should be a cracking game. Can't wait to get on stage. See you all later."
