EastEnders' Steve McFadden enjoys tranquil life in Cornwall

Steve McFadden, 65, best known for his portrayal of the infamous Phil Mitchell on BBC's EastEnders, has been a staple on the soap since 1990 and continues to play the character today.

Born in Maida Vale, West London, McFadden worked various jobs, including labouring, carrot picking, plumbing, and working at a builder's merchant before embarking on his acting career.

Off-screen, McFadden leads a contrastingly tranquil life in Falmouth, Cornwall, where he has owned a home since the 90s.

The actor is often spotted shopping at Trago Mills, a discount store in Falmouth and Liskeard, where he purchases furniture and soft furnishings.

According to CornwallLive, he has also been seen frequenting local nightclubs and pubs in Falmouth.

In a 2017 interview with CornwallLive, McFadden referred to Falmouth as his "second home", stating that if not for EastEnders, the picturesque town would be his primary residence.

He shared: "I get down as often as I can. It's my second home, if it wasn't for EastEnders it would be my first choice of residence, but because of the show I have to be in London more."

McFadden enjoys fishing in the area and appreciates the food, beer, and local community.

Falmouth is renowned for its stunning natural harbour on the Fal Estuary and its beautiful beaches - Swanpool, Maenporth, and Gyllyngvase, reports the Express. The charming town boasts a rich history, breathtaking views and landscapes, and a vibrant arts scene.

The award-winning Falmouth Art Gallery boasts a collection of over 2,700 artworks featuring contemporary prints, British impressionist paintings, and pre-Raphaelite masterpieces.

Falmouth's lively atmosphere, plethora of pubs and restaurants, boutique shopping options, and top-rated schools make it a highly desirable place to reside. Indeed, The Sunday Times has recognised Falmouth as one of the best places to live in the UK in 2024.

According to Rightmove, house prices in Falmouth have an overall average of £399,172 over the last year.
