England call up 36 players as injury update provided ahead of Scotland Six Nations clash | Rugby | Sport

England boss Steve Borthwick reported a clean bill of health as his squad regrouped to prepare to lay their Calcutta Cup hoodoo to rest.

Borthwick has called up 36 players to prepare for Saturday’s clash with Scotland, who they have not beaten since 2020, and all are fit to train.

That includes Tom Curry, a standout performer against France in the 26-25 win last weekend and lock George Martin, who were both carrying niggles.

Flanker Curry has a managed training programme, to look after an ongoing hip condition, and Martin’s knee has eased so he is in the mix.

Harlequins No.8 Alex Dombrandt returns to the squad, after playing in his club’s 30-29 Premiership Cup defeat to Saracens on Saturday and being out of the Six Nations mix so far.

Henry Pollock, Northampton’s England Under-20 sensation, is kept in and club mate, centre Fraser Dingwall is included.

Neither are likely to be included on match day with Borthwick looking to kick on after the French win as England got back together at their Bagshot base on Sunday night.

Gregor Townsend’s Scotland do have injury worries over wing Darcy Graham who was concussed in the defeat by Ireland in a clash of heads with Finn Russell.

Both left the field but Russell did pass his HIA and is expected to be fit. The Scots are currently at a training camp near Valencia but will be in London to announce their side on Thursday.

Scotland have held the Calcutta Cup since 2021 and lost just one of the last seven meetings between the two sides, back in 2020.
