Meghan Markle accused of 'self-serving' with moment in Instagram video | Royal | News

Examining Meghan Markle's new Instagram upload documenting her obtaining signed merchandise for a young girl, a psychologist has branded the video "rehearsed" but claims it's possible she made a "real connection" with the Los Angeles wildfire victim.

The 43-year-old posted a reel to her Instagram account earlier this week where she explained how the 23-year-old US singer, Billie Eilish, sent signed items to her for a 15-year-old girl whose home had burned down.

The Duchess of Sussex, who lives in California, revealed that her and her husband Prince Harry met the teenager's mum whilst visiting a community affected by the devastating wildfires.

Psychologist Adam Lyons spoke to Express.co.uk about the video upload. He explained: "There’s nothing repeated or unusual about her gestures here. She is, however, acting or presenting - in the sense that nobody receives a package and immediately turns their camera on to film it."

Mr Lyons adds: "She definitely looks natural, but natural in the way an actor or someone performing to camera would look."

Meghan signs off the video clip by thanking a number of people who helped make this happen - including the lead singer from the band Maroon 5, and his wife.

She said: "Huge thank you, Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line, to everyone who's showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what's happened in California."

The body language expert also talked about the extreme effort Meghan went to, to obtain the items: "Overall, you have to think about why somebody would put in this much effort to help somebody get a single t-shirt.

"It is possible she made a real connection with somebody and she was really inspired to go out of her way to do this, but from an altruistic point of view, the fact she made a video about it means it was never really about serving the other person, it was more about self-serving herself."
