John Lennon son accepts Beatles Grammy win on behalf of dad with touching speech | Music | Entertainment

It may be 2025, but incredibly, both The Beatles and the Rolling Stones won Grammys this year.

Mick Jagger’s band took home Best Rock Album for their latest record, Hackney Diamonds.

Meanwhile, the Fab Four won best rock performance for their “final” song Now and Then, featuring John Lennon’s vocals.

Giles Martin, who mixed the record with Paul McCartney, wasn’t there to accept the award, so Lennon’s youngest son, Sean Ono Lennon, did so on their behalf.

Sean said: “Well since no one’s coming up to take this award I figures I’d come and sit in. I really didn’t expect to be accepting the awards on behalf of my father’s group The Beatles. But it’s really incredible if you think about it man. I mean, The Beatles have done s much incredible work and they’re still in the culture and people and still listen to the music. And as far as I’m concerned it’s the greatest band of all time.

The 49-year-old son of John and Yoko added: “Play The Beatles music to your kids. I feel like the world cannot afford to forget about people like The Beatles. We need this music in the world. We need peace and love. And we need the magic of the Sixties to stay alive.”
