The fourth and final Bridget Jones film is set to land on our cinema screens imminently, but a new study has revealed the average price to purchase her iconic flat.

Bridget lives in a one-bedroom apartment in Borough Market in the beloved film franchise. Fans will recall her running out of her flat and chasing after Mark Darcy at the end of the first film in her underwear.

The apartment is based on the real-life three-bedroom flat at 8 Bedale Street, SE1 9AL, above the Globe Tavern. Research obtained data from HM Land Registry’s House Price Index has indicated that the flat price is now £415,090.

Experts at the financial comparison site Good Money Guide examined data from the UK House Price Index to determine how many apartments in the borough of Southwark had sold in 2024, which came to an average price of £415,090.

The study also calculated that apartment prices in the London area have increased by 182% over the last 24 years since the first film came out.

Londoners now pay an average of £26,853 to rent a one-bedroom apartment for 12 months, a 239% increase from the London average annual rent cost of £7,924.28 in 2001.

“This study emphasises how inflation rates across the UK have had a colossal impact on the property market, showcasing the increasing difficulty for younger generations to get on the property ladder.”

Renée Zellweger has returned to reprise her role as Bridget, with Hugh Grant, Leo Woodall, and Chiwetel Ejiofor starring in the romantic comedy.

The first Bridget Jones film premiered in April 2001 and has become a cult classic in the rom-com film genre. The second film, Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, was released in 2004, followed by Bridget Jones's Baby in 2016.
