GTA 6 release date leaked and it's even better than we could have hoped | Gaming | Entertainment

It looks like the GTA 6 release date may have leaked ahead of schedule.

Until Rockstar Games says otherwise, Grand Theft Auto is pencilled in for an unspecified autumn launch.

However, according to one European retailer, GTA 6 will have a September 17 release date on PS5 and Xbox Series X. That's even sooner than we possibly could have expected.

As spotted by Tom's Guide, the September 17 GTA 6 listing was posted by Spanish retailer XUruguay.

While the listing has since been removed and could have been a placeholder, it's worth noting that GTA 5 launched on September 17 back in 2013.

It would certainly be a nice touch if developer Rockstar Games launched its sequel exactly 12 years later.

It also means we could be playing the next Grand Theft Auto much sooner than anticipated.

Fans should find out for sure when Rockstar Games releases Trailer 2, which has got to be close.

As you can see from Trailer 1, Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: "Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet."

The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.

The trailer also hints at a potential game-changing new feature for Grand Theft Auto 6, which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
