TV tonight: the last survivor of the Auschwitz women’s orchestra | Television

The Last Musician of Auschwitz

9pm, BBC Two

“In hell, there is music.” This outstanding feature-length documentary tells the remarkable story of the 99-year-old cellist Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who is the only surviving musician of the Women’s Orchestra of Auschwitz. She shares her testimony along with other survivors, remembering the twisted evil of the Nazis ordering beautiful pieces to be played for what were basically death marches – but there were moments of defiance in some of the music at the concentration camp, too. Rare interviews, haunting archive footage and moving modern performances are woven together to mark 80 years since the liberation of the camp, ending with “the Jewish Deathsong”. Hollie Richardson

Alison Hammond’s Florida Unpacked

6.30pm, BBC Two

Alison Hammond’s beloved mother was a travel agent who bagged her family jammy dream holidays to Florida. Now, Hammond is taking her teenage son, Aiden, back with her to see if it can be done on a budget – starting with borrowing an RV. Good of them to do the legwork. HR

The Traitors US

8pm, BBC Three

Alan Cumming arrives on horseback to oversee the third season of the US version, set in the same Scottish castle and with the same challenges. There are a lot of former Survivor, Big Brother and Real Housewives contestants – and not all of them are happy to see each other. HR

The Tattooist’s Son: Journey to Auschwitz

9pm, Sky History

The love story between the prisoners Gita Furman and Lali Sokolov was dramatised on screen last year in The Tattooist of Auschwitz. In this moving documentary, the couple’s 63-year-old son, Gary Sokolov, leaves his Melbourne home to visit Slovakia and Poland in the hope of learning more about the lives of his parents before and during their horrific ordeal. Silent Witness

9pm, BBC One

It is easy to see why this forensics drama has managed to reach a remarkable 28 seasons: it’s limited in scope, but very good at what it does. This week’s two-parter is a pacy, self-contained story set on a flight to the UK from Mumbai. Emilia Fox’s Dr Nikki Alexander finds her luxurious, business-class jaunt interrupted by a potentially deadly viral outbreak. Phil Harrison

Bump

11.10pm, BBC One

This Aussie family dramedy may have outgrown its teen-parenting phase, but pregnancy and child-rearing are still very much the theme. Rosa wants to compete with smug new dad Matias by throwing an extravagant baby shower for her daughter-in-law, but Oly’s mum (co-creator Claudia Karvan) isn’t convinced: “I’m not sure the baby needs water views?” Ellen E Jones
