King Charles III will seek to leave a stronger institution for Prince William by maximising efforts to make the Royal Family limber and "up to date", according to Charles Rae. The royal photographer argued His Majesty is aware he has a comparatively shorter time on the throne than his mother and suggested he will leave his mark. The King has long been tipped to cut down on the number of working members of the Royal Family to curb costs and make the institution more functional.

Rae said: "Charles in effect has a much shorter time than his mother to adapt and develop to his new role.

"However, I believe he will try to bring the monarchy up to date, especially in not having so many hangers-on.

"I also believe he will continue with his duty to show the UK in the best possible light around the world."

The royal photographer suggested the King had previously hoped to include the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the main royal line-up, taking on engagements on his behalf.

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Rae continued: "One thing that is a pity is that if the fallout had not happened, then Harry and Meghan would have been cornerstones in the new slimmed-down monarchy.

"Their positions have been filled with great ease by Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex.

"I think it was always the wish for the Royal Family to have the Sussexes play a key role."

He forecasted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's repeated swipes at the institution will likely not have a lasting effect.

Rae added: "The monarchy will survive. It has survived for thousands of years and has faced many controversies, executions, abdications, affairs, falls and rises in popularity, which will continue.

"I believe the monarchy is probably the greatest living soap opera and can easily outdo the likes of EastEnders and Coronation Street.

"Whatever happens in the future for the monarchy, it will deal with it in the best way it sees fit.”

Since the King ascended the throne in September, he has shown younger siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, alongside Sophie, the Countess of Wessex will be heavily relied on.

Anne and Edward were made Counsellors of State later last year, joining Queen Camilla, Prince William, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew in serving in the coveted role.

The pair will now be able to act in the King's stead were he to be travelling abroad or unable to perform his duties because of illness.

Princess Beatrice, who is not a full-time royal but retains the HRH style as the grandchild of a monarch in the male line, was also made a Counsellor of State.

Before the roster was extended to include the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex and Forfar, only the monarch's consort and first four members of the line of succession above the age of 21 could serve in the role.

The King has also continued to rely on the support of the late Queen's cousins, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
