Gabby Logan suffered an embarrassing blunder during Prime Video's Champions League coverage on Tuesday night when she accidentally got Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah's name wrong. The new BBC Match of the Day host was presenting Liverpool's clash against Lille at Anfield when she referred to Salah as Mo Farah.

Logan helmed the broadcast of the mouth-watering European meeting alongside punditry trio Robbie Fowler, Luis Garcia and Daniel Sturridge pitchside.

At half-time, after Salah had fired the hosts 1-0 ahead in the first half, the 51-year-old slipped up during a segue into the adverts.

Reflecting on the Egyptian forward's crucial contribution, dinking Curtis Jones' pinpoint through ball over onrushing goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, Logan said: "Mo Farah is smelling blood."

Farah, of course, isn't part of Arne Slot's red-hot Liverpool attack.

The retired 41-year-old is the most successful male track distance runner in the sport's history, winning four Olympic and six World titles throughout his illustrious career.

Salah, meanwhile, is considered one of the Premier League's greatest-ever forwards, and his strike against Lille was his 22nd in 31 games in all competitions this season.

Logan's blunder was a rare one; she is considered one of the best presenters the nation has to offer and was deservedly named among the new Match of the Day hosts earlier this month.

Logan - alongside Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman - will replace Gary Lineker, who has been the face of BBC MOTD since 1999, next season.

"There's an enormous responsibility to make sure we continue to evolve while at the same time respecting the traditions of Match of the Day," Logan said after being announced.

"Everybody understands the history of the programme and the consistently huge audiences that watch it.

"It has more to offer as well – we know how strong the digital offering is, and Match of the Day is really relevant to that audience, too.

"People want to see the goals, they want to see the incidents, they want to see the moments everyone's talking about, so while we can tinker at the edges, the core is the football."

Logan, a former gymnast before entering the world of broadcasting, has previously filled in for Lineker before earning the job on a permanent basis.

She added: "One of the first things I did when I came to the BBC was fill in on Match of the Day, and at that point when I was in that chair at the old BBC studio in London and hearing the music, it was a real hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck moment."
