UK weather maps turn purple as 320-mile snow bomb to hit 4 areas | Weather | News

Another blast of snow is due to hit the UK soon and Brits should be prepared for chilly temperatures.

Maps from WXCHARTS show snow will hit the UK on Sunday, February 2, with the most impacted areas to be Scotland and the north of England.

Parts of Scotland. including Inverness, will see up to 2.5cm of snowfall per hour.

In the north of England, including the North Pennines, Northumberland and the Yorkshire Dales, will see snowfall too.

Across these areas, up to 3cm of snowfall will also be seen.

As for the rest of the UK, large swathes will see rainfall with up to 0.6mm of rainfall hitting the north of England, some of the midlands and most of Wales.

Around Newcastle and Manchester will see the highest levels of rainfall with up to 1mm of rain to hit these areas.

However, as for the south of England, this part of the UK will largely be free from any snow or rain, as will most of the east coast.

This comes after snow caused heavy disruption this January across the UK with delays to flights, trains and school closures.

The Met Office long-range forecast says: “The start of February is likely to continue on an unsettled and relatively mild theme, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds, alternating in most parts with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes.

“Pressure may build across southern areas towards mid-month, which would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost.”

Brits should brace for a second wave of wintery weather as February begins with rain, wind and snow to hit some parts of the UK.
