Manchester United reportedly will not be punished over a social media message in the aftermath of their FA Cup third-round triumph over Arsenal.

The United official X (formerly known as Twitter) account wrote simply "Justice" after their penalty shoot-out win, with many fans debating whether it was in reference to complaints over referee Andy Madley.

But The Times claim that the FA have decided against punishing United for the comment, which the club had pinned to the top of their account.

In October, Nottingham Forest were fined £750,000 for a social media post last season aimed at video assistant referee Stuart Attwell.

United players were adamant that Madley had made several mistakes in the cup tie, starting in the first half when captain Bruno Fernandes alleged that he was fouled by Gabriel Jesus.

Fernandes was lining up a shot on the edge of the box only to fall to the floor following contact from Jesus, but Madley did not blow for a free-kick and instead waved play on.

While Jesus laid on the turf and would shortly be stretchered off, Fernandes noticed that his boot had slightly come off as a result of the challenge, took it off completely and threw it in frustration.

The Portuguese playmaker was swiftly booked for dissent.

In the second half, after Diogo Dalot had been sent off for two yellow card offences, United stars were once again incensed when Arsenal were awarded a penalty.

Harry Maguire was adjudged to have fouled Kai Havertz inside the 18-yard box, despite protests of very minimal contact from the visiting players, though with no VAR in effect for the third round the penalty stood.

A mass brawl erupted as Havertz was felled and Manuel Ugarte was accused of headbutting the Arsenal forward, with Gabriel, Maguire and Havertz all shown yellow cards for their roles in the melee.

Then deputising goalkeeper Altay Bayindir flung himself in the right direction as he saved Martin Odegaard's spot-kick. The 10 men of United were then able to keep Arsenal at bay until the end of extra time.

Bayindir made himself the hero once again in the shoot-out, stopping Havertz from 12 yards as Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez and Joshua Zirkzee were perfect from the spot.
