Shoppers issued warning as popular sweets recalled over allergy fears

TK Maxx has issued an urgent warning to shoppers over several Turkish Delights products containing ingredients not stated on the packaging.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) raised the allergy alert on Monday, January 6, 2025, with a "do not eat" caution for those who may have purchased the Turkish Delights.

A statement from the FSA read: "TJX Europe is recalling several Sultans Turkish Delights products because they contain milk not mentioned on the label.

"This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."

Four batches of the sweets in various flavours have been removed from TK Maxx shops.

It comes just a few weeks after TK Maxx and Home Sense stores recalled the same Turkish Delight products for a similar reason.

A previous food recall issued by the retailers on December 24, 2024, read: "We are recalling Sultans Turkish Delights due to safety issue. They contain a small amount of undeclared milk which could cause an allergic reaction."

Both recalls identified the same batches of Turkish Delights products, so shoppers are urged to check items thoroughly even if they were purchased before Christmas.

Customer advice is for anyone with a known allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents not to eat the products.

Instead, they should be returned to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a refund or a replacement.

For more information, shoppers can contact TJX Europe Customer Service on 01923473561 or email customerservice@tjxeurope.com.

The FSA reassured customers that point-of-sale notices would be displayed in all retail stores selling these products.

These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought them.
