How to remove limescale form shower screens fast and naturally without vinegar

Limescale is the number one cause of grubby shower screens, with soap scum coming in at a close second.

So what is limescale? Well, it’s essentially water that is not chemically pure. It contains various minerals and metals like calcium, fluoride or magnesium.

The hardness of water depends on how much of those minerals carry your water. So when we say that the water is hard, it means that it has a high concentration of minerals and metals.

So that, in combination with soap, creates that ugly residue on water taps, shower tiles and shower screens.

Limescale is most visible on shower glass and can ruin the overall look of your bathroom. However, there are natural ways to clean it that don’t always require white vinegar.

Cleaning experts behind the Instagram page @thecleangroup have shared an insight into how hotel cleaners achieve a “flawless” looking shower screen “in seconds”.

Captioning the video, the experts said: “It’s not vinegar! Think about how spotless hotel bathrooms are and yet they are used so heavily.

“Well, hotel cleaners are absolute experts when it comes to a flawless finish.”

They claim that the secret natural ingredient is a “melamine sponge” also known as a magic eraser.

The pros said: “They are not just for getting marks out of walls. A damp melamine sponge will eat through limescale, soap scum and watermarks in 15 seconds.

“I’ve been using them for clients (and my own) showers for the last six months and, I promise you - you will never get a finish like this any other way.

“I can’t wait to hear your verdict. It’s a game changer - and I don’t say that lightly.”

A magic eraser is made from a special lightweight melamine resin foam that penetrates deep into the surface grooves, breaks up dirt and lifts them from the surface with nothing but water.

Demonstrating how it works, the expert in the video rubs a wet magic eraser over the limescale-ridden shower screen before wiping it down with a microfibre cloth.

The before and after results are fantastic and it does indeed leave a “flawless finish”.
