PS Plus January 2025 free PS4 and PS5 games release time, date and last chance warning | Gaming | Entertainment

The next batch of PlayStation Plus Essential games are about to be released by Sony.

Consisting of three PS4 and PS5 games, the new releases will be available to download and install by around midday UK time on January 7. Fans have until February 4 to redeem the games and add them to their libraries.

Speaking of which, this is also your last chance warning to redeem the December free games, which include It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent and Temtem.

The January 2025 free PS4 and PS5 games are headlined by high-profile flop Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Featuring a team of anti-heroes such as Harley Quinn and Deadshot, Suicide Squad launched to mediocre reviews and poor sales less than a year ago.

Despite being developed by Rocksteady Studios, fans were turned off by the game's repetitive gameplay, uninspired combat and live service elements.

Still, while it's not worth paying the original £70 asking price, the campaign is probably worth a playthrough now that it's available on PS Plus.

Suicide Squad will be joined by the far superior narrative-driven indie game The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.

The Ultra Deluxe version of the game features a host of new content, including new choices to make and new endings to discover.

It also comes with various visual upgrades, as well as new accessibility features such as a colourblind mode and support for additional languages.

The third and final game is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, which is an open-world racing game developed by Criterion Games.

Needless to say, the game features some visual improvements, alongside the original game's post-release DLC.

This includes new missions from the Super Sports Pack, Lamborghini Untamed, and Porsche Unleashed DLC, which are now in the main career mode.

One of the better entries in Need for Speed series, Hot Pursuit sees fans play as both an outlaw and a cop, complete with all the tactical weaponry and upgrades available with each role.
