Hidden petrol pump button to save on fuel costs at UK supermarketsMoney Mum stressed the solution would help road users “stop overspending” and “stay on budget” when topping up. Speaking on TikTok, MoneyMum said: “Don’t go a penny over with this hack. Go to the petrol pump and put in the amount and then put pounds in OK... add your card, lift the nozzle and begin fuelling and you won't go a penny over.” At Tesco, motorists are given simple instructions on the side of the pump explaining how they can take advantage of the system. It reads: “Before you lift the nozzle, tell the pump exactly how much you want to put in and it will stop for you. “Press ‘10’ and/or ‘1’ to set the amount example: press ‘10 twice for £20. Press £/Lts’ for price or volume. Press ‘Pay at Kiosk’ or ‘Pay at Pump’.” Another TikTok user @ommsdailyfacts also revealed the special tip, admitting those on tight budgets can ensure they “only spend a tenner”. She said: “Do you know you can set the amount you want to spend when you're filling your car with petrol? “Before you even start you can set a limit of how much you want to spend and the pump will automatically turn off when you reach that amount. Like here when I only spent a tenner exactly.” Accidentally putting in too much fuel may seem harmless but could massively backfire if road users do not have the funds to pay. Those carrying cash only struggle to find the last few pennies together in a major blow. Motorists who can’t cover a bill will be asked to sign a ‘No Means to Pay’ form. Drivers will usually be given 48 hours to return and pay off the charge to avoid further action. Source link Posted: 2025-01-05 17:10:36 |
