Jamie Oliver’s chicken pasta is ‘the easiest’ recipe to cook as it has only 5 ingredients

Now that Christmas is over, many of us are getting sick of chocolate and leftovers - so you can jump back into cooking properly with this dinner recipe.

Jamie Oliver's chicken pasta only requires five ingredients to make but can serve eight people, so it is perfect for anyone wanting to save money after the holidays.

On his website, Jamie shared that this recipe is inspired by a Greek dish on the island of Andros, and it's an “undeniably delicious pasta.”

Jamie said: “It’s the easiest thing to put together and the Oliver squad loves it (the teenagers thought the halloumi was peng!).”

This is the perfect dish for anyone feeding any visiting family members or for anyone wanting a simple yet nutritious dinner recipe now that Christmas is over.

How to make Jamie Oliver’s chicken pasta

Ingredients

  • 1kg of chicken thighs (skin on, bone in)
  • 500g of chopped frozen onion, carrots and celery
  • Two (400g) tins of plum tomatoes
  • 100g of halloumi cheese
  • 600g of dried macaroni

Kitchen essentials needed:

  • Olive oil
  • Red wine vinegar

Recipe

To begin, place a casserole pan on the stove on a high heat. Add two tablespoons of olive oil and brown the chicken thighs all over, then place on a plate to set aside.

Pour the frozen vegetables into a pan and allow to soften for five minutes. Then put the chicken thigh back in the pan and add two tablespoons of red wine vinegar.

Allow the red wine vinegar to cook until the liquid is gone. Then place the tomatoes and scrunch them will clean hands.

Add the tomatoes to the pan along with one tin worth of water. Bring everything to a boil, then leave it to simmer for one hour until the chicken is falling off the bone.

Once the cooking time is up, cook the pasta. Place it in a pan of boiling salted water and follow the packet instructions.

Strip all the chicken meat from the bones, discard the bones and add the shredded chicken back into the sauce. Drain the pasta and add it to the pan as well.

Stir the mixture and season to taste. Grate in the halloumi cheese and your delicious pasta is now ready to serve.

Dish it up by adding one tablespoon of olive oil to the bowl and grate any remaining halloumi cheese on top.
