A man is in hospital following a violent attack at a nightclub in Redcar, Yorkshire on Christmas Day.

The incident occurred at around 2.20am at The Deck on Bath Street.

A 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries, including a bite to his leg, extensive damage to his ear and a cut to his hand.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

PC Beevers of Redcar Police described the assault as “horrific” and called for witnesses to come forward.

“This was a horrific attack with the man receiving significant injuries and currently receiving treatment in hospital,” PC Beevers said.

He added: “While our enquiries are ongoing, I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the nightclub at the time of the assault and saw it take place.

“I would also encourage anyone with mobile phone footage or information that could assist with the investigation to get in touch.”
