Ronnie O'Sullivan is cruel on fans - snooker bosses have to intervene | Other | Sport

Ronnie O'Sullivan has earned the right to pull out of any event he wants. But he ought to do so gracefully and give more than 24 hours notice.

His latest antics, withdrawing from the Scottish Open the night before his first-round tie, is cruel to fans, competitors, sponsors and broadcasters.

O'Sullivan doesn't owe anything to the sport. He has given enough of his life being sent wherever Barry Hearn says.

He wanted some control and now he has it. But don't be so selfish to ruin the experience for everybody else.

Ticket holders for that session were fuming and they had every right to be. They paid top dollar for admission to be let down the night before.

Snooker bosses have to come up with repercussions for such behaviour with fines or it sets a dangerous precedent for the whole sport.

McIlroy lining digital pocket

RORY McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will be laughing all the way to the bank when they face Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in an exhibition match next week.

Well, all the way to the laptop. In a sporting first, their $10 million prize pot is paid in cryptocurrency.

This isn't about bringing the PGA Tour and LIV Golf together - it's about lining their (digital) pockets.

Bottas black flag

VALTTERI Bottas may have finally found a car that can go fast.

He was given a black flag by police in the US yesterday when he was pulled over while driving with his girlfriend.

Whatever the reason, he can't have been going any slower than he was in a Sauber this year.
