Saudi Arabia World Cup to take place in mind-blowing new stadiums as first images emerge | Football | Sport

Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup after winning a bidding process as the sole entrant. The controversial announcement was made at a virtual FIFA congress in Zurich on Wednesday.

Billions are set to be spent on making the kingdom fit to host the tournament in a decade's time. Many of the stadiums are yet to be built, while one of them is designed to sit 350 metres in the air.

Express Sport takes you through each of the incredible stadiums which are set to be constructed over the coming years.

A 46,000-seater stadium in the capital, Roshn Stadium will be built to resemble crystal-like shards rising into the sky. It will host group stage and last-32 fixtures and, once the tournament is over, it will be a multi-purpose venue. The arena has been named after PIF-owned real estate company Roshn, who will own and operate the stadium once it is completed in 2032.
