How to remove limescale stains from taps fast and naturally without scrubbing

Limescale is something those living in hard water areas experience daily as it’s something that constantly returns.

This is because of the minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, commonly found in water. When water evaporates, these are left behind. As they crystallise, a white crusty layer, called limescale, forms.

If you’re struggling with limescale stains on your taps, you might think that scratching it off is the only option. However, this can cause damage to your taps’ surface and leave them looking worse than before.

Fortunately, there’s a natural and effective way to remove limescale without causing damage - vinegar.

This common kitchen ingredient is acidic, which means it can break down and dissolve limescale, making it easier to wipe clean without having to resort to harsh scouring.

Now, the challenge is to ensure that the vinegar stays on your taps long enough to do their work.

Simply spraying it on can cause it to drip off, which will not give it enough time to work effectively.

Sharing with fellow cleaning lovers, @carolina.maccauley on TikTok has shared a video on how she used vinegar to “remove impossible tap stains”.

She recommends households fill a bowl with vinegar and submerge a microfibre cloth in the liquid.

Then all you need to do is wrap the cloth around the tap and leave to sit for 30 minutes.

Once the time is up, remove the cloth and use it to wipe away the limescale.

Showing the camera the results, Carolina said: “I can’t believe how good this works.”

Her followers took to the comments section to share their thoughts on this tip. @mab1425 said: “I tried and it worked like magic. Thanks for all your tips.”
