A woman has died after being mauled to death by dog at a block of flats in a horrifying attack.

Emergency services ruished to the scene on Foresterhill Road in Aberdeen at around 11.15pm on Saturday after reports a woman had been seriously injured.

Tragically the woman, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not known what breed the dog involved in the attack is, but the animal has since been put down.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.15pm on Saturday, 7 December 2024, police received a report that a woman had been seriously injured by a dog within a flat on Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen.

"Emergency services attended but the 41-year-old woman died at the scene.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"The dog has since been euthanised."
