I tried Yorkshire puddings from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda & Morrisons - one disappointed me

Yorkshire puddings are a staple to any roast dinner, but they are most commonly served with beef.

However, if you like them with your Christmas dinner, you may be thinking about which ones to purchase, if you aren’t making them yourself, of course.

I recently tried frozen Yorkshire puddings from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons to see which supermarket has the most delicious pud.

They all cooked at the same temperature, with some taking a couple of minutes longer than others, and they were all under £1.50 for 12.

There was definitely a standout winner, and I was surprised to find out how different they all tasted from one another.

Asda:

Priced at just 95p for a pack of 12, the lowest price of the taste test, Asda’s Yorkshire puddings definitely tasted better than they looked.

They had a good crunch which was balanced nicely with its soft and fluffy middle.

Overall they had a good taste and I’d happily eat them with my roast dinner, I just preferred one of the others.

Price for 12: 95p

Score out of 10: 7/10

Sainsbury’s:

Priced at £1.40 for a frozen pack of 12, these were the crunchiest Yorkshire’s of all the taste test.

These were definitely up there with the best supermarket Yorkshires I’ve ever tried, and I think if they were cooked for a minute or two less, they would have taken the top spot.

They tasted slightly homemade, had a cakey middle and were crispy on the top.

Price for 12: £1.40

Score out of 10: 8/10

Tesco:

Priced at £1.40 for 12 Yorkshire puddings, these were my least favourite in all of the taste test.

They looked like pancakes and had a funny texture which was not very appetising to me at all.

I didn’t find them fluffy and they left a grease behind on the fingers.

Price for 12: £1.40

Score out of 10: 4/10

Morrisons:

The Morrisons Yorkshire puddings were £1.25 and just like all of the others, there were 12 in a pack.

These took the top spot for me in terms of look and flavour.

They had a delicious taste, and the texture was spot on, fluffy in the middle and a slight crunch on the outside.

They were still slightly greasy on the fingers but the taste outweighed this for me.

Price for 12: £1.25

Score out of 10: 9/10
