Expert shares clever hack to stop Christmas tree dropping needles

A cleaning expert has revealed top tips for reducing the mess of pine needles during the festive season.

Homeaglow, a home cleaning service provider, suggests creating a clear pathway when bringing the tree indoors to avoid knocking off needles.

The company also advises placing the Christmas tree in a cool spot and watering it occasionally to maintain its freshness and colour.

Positioning the tree in a low-traffic area can also minimise accidental disturbances.

Being proactive in preventing needle shedding and managing the space around the tree can simplify the clean-up process.

When it comes to tidying up fallen needles, vacuum attachments are crucial, but care should be taken not to roll over the needles to prevent damage to the vacuum cleaner.

Instead, regularly empty the bag or canister, attach the crevice tool, and vacuum from the edges towards the centre.

Lint rollers can be handy for quick spot cleaning, particularly on upholstery or carpets where needles may get stuck.

Remember to use a fresh, sticky layer, start from the outer edges and work towards the middle, and dispose of used layers correctly.

You can pick up a 12-pack of lint rollers from Amazon for £8.99, making each one work out at just 75p.

Duct tape can also be used for isolated needle spots by wrapping it around your hand with the sticky side out

To tackle the mess in bigger spaces, experts have touted the rubber broom as the go-to tool for sweeping up those pesky pine needles. Once they're rounded up into a neat pile, you can whip out a dustpan or vacuum to clear them away.

These handy tips ensure a spotless home, paving the way for an amplified Christmas cheer and quality time with family rather than fussing over the festive fallout.

"Trying to reduce the number of pine needles that fall to the ground is the best way of keeping your home clean and looking less like a forest floor," said the expert.
