Coco Gauff obliterates Swiatek, Raducanu and Caitlin Clark with mammoth 2024 earnings | Tennis | Sport

Coco Gauff tops the charts for the highest-earning female sports stars in 2024, leaving the likes of Iga Swiatek, Emma Raducanu and Caitlin Clark in her wake.

The American star, as per Sportico, pocketed a handsome £23million ($30.4m) for the year, with the overwhelming majority coming from off-court endorsements.

Gauff, who reached the semi-finals of both the Australian and French Opens this year, earned an impressive £7m ($9m) from her earnings in tennis, with more than half of her income coming from deals elsewhere.

The American, who was reported to have been pocketing over £780,000 ($1m) as a teenager, boasts lucrative deals with the likes of Head, Barilla Foods, UPS and Baker Tilly.

But it’s her partnership with New Balance that garners the most attention, with Gauff seen sporting the manufacturer's gear throughout the year, as well as laying claim to her own signature tennis shoe deal.

Guaff is the face of their women’s tennis operations and has featured alongside fellow sporting greats, such as footballer Bukayo Saka and baseball pitcher Shohei Ohtani.

Gauff becomes just the third women’s sportsperson ever to pocket over £23m ($30m) in a single year, after fellow tennis players Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams.

It goes to show the cash that’s available in women’s tennis, with the WTA having announced plans to achieve equal prize money across the sport by 2033.

What’s more, in the list of top 15 women earners this year, nine of the entries were tennis stars.

Alongside Guaff, Swiatek (£16.5m/$21m), Qinwen Zheng (£16m/ $20.6m) and world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka (£14m/ $18m) are among the highest-earning female tennis players this term.

Elsewhere, golf had three entries into the top 15, with gymnastics (Simone Biles), skiing (Eileen Gu) and basketball (Clark) all having one apiece.

It marks a sensational debut year in professional basketball for Indiana Fever’s Clark, who won the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year award for her exploits across the 2024 season.
