Royal expert spots 'step change' for family as new priorities formed | Royal | News

The Royal Family have reportedly made a "step change" as a result of shifting priorities, a royal expert has said.

Over the last year, the royals have been faced with numerous challenges, including the fact the King and Princess Kate were both diagnosed with cancer.

However, one royal expert has noted that despite this, the family have continued their royal duties as much as possible, and have each prioritised their own causes.

Sky's Royal Correspondent Rhiannon Mills believes that through focusing on their own causes, the family have made a slight change and prioritised projects with big impacts rather than their more traditional duties of ribbon cutting.

Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Mills said: "When we were in South Africa, Prince William very clearly made the point, he's going to do royal with a small R, and he wants to do stuff that's going to have impact.

“So this year for him, of course, it's been about homelessness, mental health, for Catherine, for the things that she has done, it's still continued to be about early years and the family.

For Queen Camilla, it's been about domestic violence, and for the King, he spent his birthday talking about food waste and food poverty.

"And for me, I just see this as a really interesting step change almost for the Royal Family."

She went on to say that the monarchy appears to be "more socially engaged than ever."

The insight comes after a tough year for the royals following King Charles and Princess Kate’s cancer battles.
