Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa confronted an angry home fan at Molineux during half-time while his side were losing to Bournemouth.

As the whistle blew for the end of the opening 45 minutes, Wolves trailed 3-1, with one supporter in particular seeming to take issue with Sa's inability to keep the visitors at bay.

The Portuguese stopper went to collect his water bottle to take off the pitch and into the dressing room, only to spot the fan and walk towards them, stopping in front of security before arguing back.

He was held back by stewards after defending his first-half performance, before the fan was escorted out of the stadium to cheers by his fellow Wolves faithful.

There was a loud applause for Sa as he walked back onto the pitch, he put up an apologetic wave to the South Bank before heading to the dressing room.

Wolves had been unbeaten in four matches coming into the home clash with Bournemouth, having started the season with one point from their opening eight games, but came undone against Andoni Iraola's outfit.

The visitors quelled any home optimism after just three minutes when Justin Kluivert beat Sa from the penalty spot.

Jorgen Strand Larsen equalised moments later but Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez quickly struck to regain their advantage, before a third was added again by Kluivert from 12 yards.

Sa had been at fault for the second penalty after a heavy touch controlling the ball, which allowed striker Evanilson to pounce, before he was tripped by the goalkeeper inside the 18-yard box.

Strand Larsen got his second to bring Wolves back to 3-2 in the second half, before Evanlison beat Sa to a poor Craig Dawson backpass, the Brazilian forward was brought down by the goalkeeper again and Kluivert got his third from the spot.

Sa's spot as number one came into doubt following the £10million arrival of Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace in the summer, but he has fought off that competition, much to the delight of boss Gary O'Neil.

"There are discussions around places and sometimes that's the goalkeeper,” said O’Neil in the build-up to Bournemouth's visit to Wolverhampton.

"I've been pleased with Jose. His response to Sam's arrival and being left out for a few weeks has been excellent. Hopefully that can continue.”
