Revive 'droopy' peace lilies in just a 'few hours' using simple 3-step methodPeace lilies are popular houseplants with beginners as they require minimal care, however, when they're unhappy they can change dramatically. One of the most obvious signs your peace lily is unhappy is droopy leaves. Luckily, houseplant pro Riley Smith, who goes by the username @sproutsmith on YouTube, shared how she manages to revive her "droopy" peace lily in just a "few hours" in a short video. The houseplant owner went away for a few days and came back to a droopy peace lily. The plant's leaves were bent downwards and looked "sad". Rather than leaving the plant, the houseplant pro managed to "revive" the peace lily in "just a few hours". Firstly, she listed all of the plant's leaves. This may seem strange but dusting the leaves can help the plants receive more light. Plants use the sun to photosynthesise which keeps them alive. If the leaves are covered in dust, the plant will receive less light which means it will find it harder to photosynthesise. Next, she gave the plant a shower. She soaked all of the plant's leaves and the soil to ensure it was thoroughly watered. Peace lilies often droop when they need watering and can quickly perk up when they've been well-watered. Lastly, Riley repotted her peace lily into a bigger pot. It's important to ensure the pot you use has drainage holes so it doesn't sit in water. She removed any excess soil from the leaves and allowed the plant to sit in the sun for a few hours. The plant looked noticeably happier with glossy, green leaves that weren't droopy. The post received lots of positive comments from plant enthusiasts with some users claiming the shower hack worked wonders. The user said: "My peace Lily was giving me such a hard time. I gave her a shower for ten minutes and she perked back up. Some leaves so turned yellow but she looks happy and I have new growth. Thank you!" Another wrote: "Wow thank you I'm going to try this right now! I knew she was dramatic but my goodness she is really scaring me now. "Edit: My peace lily was bad guys, so sad, but I put her in the shower and voila!! She has perked up! Thank you friend, from the bottom of my heart." Source link Posted: 2024-10-24 12:52:51 |
