Thomas Tuchel has been officially unveiled as the new England manager, with the FA tying him down to an 18-month contract. The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss will take over from interim head coach Lee Carsley at the start of 2025.

Tuchel boasts a formidable record in knockout football, having won the Champions League and Club World Cup during his time at Chelsea. After leaving the Blues, he led Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title in 2022/23 before stepping down from the role last season.

The 51-year-old is only the third foreign manager to take charge of England, following in the footsteps of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello. His appointment has raised a few eyebrows, with some believing only English candidates should manage the national team.
